Saints Season #2
4 Wins 9 Loses 1 Tie
Coach: Tom Fears
First Round Draft Pick: Traded to Green Bay
Year number two was a little better as The New Orleans Saints 1968 NFL season brought a total of 4 wins and a third place finish in the NFL’s Century Division. During the off season, the Saints front office did some negotiating to bring WR Dave Parks from the 49ers. Parks had been played 4 seasons with San Fransisco, making the Pro Bowl 3 times. In 1965 he was All-Pro. Dave Parks would haul in a total of 149 catches over the next 5 seasons as a Saint.
The offense showed signs of improvement. Don McCall rushed for 637 yards and had 4.1 average. Billy Kilmer emerged as the starting quarterback while hitting 53% of his passes for 2060
yards and 15 TDs. Danny Abramowicz led the team in receiving for the second straight year (54 catches-890 yards-16.4 yards per catch-7 tds). For the defense, defensive tackle Dave Rowe makes
the Pro Bowl.
The 4 wins and third place finish in the Century Division the best yet for a second year expansion team.
