Danny Abramowicz set a Saints team record 73 catches (a record that stood in the Saints books until 1978, when Tony Galbreath broke it) and 1015 yards. Billy Kilmer ranked 8th in the league in passing. His stats were 360 attempts-193 completions-2532 yards-20 tds and 17 interceptions.
In one of sports big moments, in the victory against St.Louis, Kilmer and Jim Hart combined for a total of 12 touchdown passes. Kilmer hit 6 of them and had 345 yards passing.

Hall of Fame Defensive legend Doug Atkins retired after a 17 year career. Opposing quarterbacks could now breath a little easier. Atkins made the Pro-Bowl along with Tom Dempsey, Tony Baker, Andy Livingston, Jake Kupp and the entire New Orleans Saints Coaching staff.
