Jim Everett career is revitalized in New Orleans as he sets the team record for passing yards in a single season: 3855. Tight end Wesley Walls was brought in from San Francisco and immediately became a fan-favorite. Defensively, Atlanta Falcon Defensive End Darion Conner joined the team and led in sacks with 10.5.
 The seven wins on the year included sweeps of both the Rams and Falcons. In the first game against the Rams, Tyrone Hughes returned not 1, but 2 kickoff returns for scores. Morten Andersen nailed a 40-yarder in the first game against the Falcons, with 8 ticks on the clock to give us a 33-32 win.
 On the stats end, Rookie Mario Bates led the team in rushing (579 yards, 7 Tds) and Quinn Early led in receptions (82-894 yards, 4 Tds). Michael Haynes also had 985 yards receiving on 77 catches- 5 Tds.
And while free-agent Darion Conner had his team high 10.5 sacks, Wayne Martin was right behind with 10. Defensive back Jimmie Spencer had 5 interceptions and Kicker Morten Andersen had 116 points on the year.
