No More Mora

A season that many (including myself) thought the Saints would really make a go of it. What happened was nothing short of a disaster. The Saints started 0-5 for the second year in a row and Jim Mora- the only head coach to ever bring them to the playoffs – quit midway through the season after a disappointing loss to Carolina.
Rick Ventura agreed to take over only after no one else would.
About the only bright spot was kicker Doug Brien’s performance of the year. 21 of 25 FGs on the year. 3 of which were over 50 yards. One of these was a 54 yard’er against Chicago.
Mario Bates led the team for the 3rd straight season with 584 yards. Wayne Martin led the team with 11 sacks. He was chosen as an alternate for the Pro Bowl while Willie Roaf made his 3rd consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl.

I've been following the Saints since a kid in the 70s watching the likes of Archie Manning and Tommy Myers.
We may not have as grandiose a history as some NFL teams, but there are scores of memories the New Orleans Saints have given to their fans and I have done my best to record them here at New Orleans Saints History.
