1989 New Orleans Saints Defense Shuts Out Dallas

Saints Defense Stops Hershell Walker

In the 1989 season opener against Dallas, the Dome Patrol gave a hearty welcome to Cowboy rookie quarterback Troy Aikmen with 2 sacks, 2 interceptions and a 28-0 shutout. Walker had a total of 10 yards rushing in the whole game. 1989 saw the Saints finish the year 12th in the league in total defense and Vaughn Johnson and Pat Swilling going to the Pro Bowl.
