Truly one of the first stars of the early New Orleans Saints teams, Danny Abramowicz was a 17th round draft pick from Xavier during the 1967 NFL draft. He barely managed to make the team’s final cut after convincing then-Head Coach Tom Fears to give him a second chance after he found out he was to be cut. In week 7 he earned the starting role against the Steelers and responded with a 12 catch 156 yard game. By the time he left in 1973 he was the Saints #1 All-Time receiver with 309 catches. That team record stood until 1989 when it was broken by Eric Martin.
