The 1977 New Orleans Saints Season

3 Wins 11 Lose

Coach: Hank Stram

First Round Draft Pick: Joe Campbell Defensive End, Maryland

Another dismal season, another coach fired. The only bright moment was a 42-24 win over Chicago where Manning rushed for 3 tds and passed for another. The other 2 victories where both by 1 point each against the Rams and Falcons. We also gave Tampa Bay their first ever win.

The ground game was somewhat productive as Muncie set a new team single season rushing record as he had 811 yards on 201 carries averaging 4 yards a carry. Galbreath added 644 more on 168 carries. Galbreath also led the team in receiving on 41 catches and 265 yards. Tight End Henry Childs led all receivers with 33 catches and 518 yards. He had 9 scores too.

I've been following the Saints since a kid in the 70s watching the likes of Archie Manning and Tommy Myers.
We may not have as grandiose a history as some NFL teams, but there are scores of memories the New Orleans Saints have given to their fans and I have done my best to record them here at New Orleans Saints History.
