Howard Cosell Highlights New Orleans Saints Upset

The 1972 NFL season was not one of the more memorable for the New Orleans Saints or their fans. The Saints, under head coach JD North, managed only 2 wins during the entire year. A 21-3 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and a 19-16 upset over the heavily favored Los Angeles Rams during the 11th week of the season. Here is none other than NFL announcing legend Howard Cosell reporting the highlights of that game played at Tulane Stadium.

Second year quarterback Archie Manning ran for one score and threw for another but it was a 33-yard Happy Fellar field-goal with 6 seconds left that sealed the win.

The video quality isn’t the best, but the memory is still brought out. Thanks to Brian Manzella for the upload.

I've been following the Saints since a kid in the 70s watching the likes of Archie Manning and Tommy Myers.
We may not have as grandiose a history as some NFL teams, but there are scores of memories the New Orleans Saints have given to their fans and I have done my best to record them here at New Orleans Saints History.
