New Orleans Saints Action from 1987 Preseason

Johnnie Poe, veteran Saints defender leaps high to block a Warren Moon pass. Poe joined the Saints in 1981 as a 6th-round draft pick from the University of Missouri and played with them through the 1987 season. He had a total of 17 interceptions during those years and 2 pick-sixes. His best year came in 1983 when he led the defense with 7 interceptions and 1 touchdown but he’s probably best remembered for his 61-yard touchdown return of blocked San Fransisco 49er field goal in 1987. It was one of the few times in the 80s that the Saints defeated a 49er team.
