Jeff Hostetler goes down under a Dome Patrol pass rush

Typical scene from the days of the Dome Patrol. Pat Swilling leads a ferocious pass rush as the Dome Patrol chalks up another sack in a 1988 game against the New York Giants. Swilling ended up with 3 sacks that game.
For the 1988 season, New Orleans finished with a 10-6 record as the Saints defense was just beginning to come into it’s own. That year they ranked #4 in points given up. Swilling was tied with Rickey Jackson for the team lead for sacks. They each had 7 and the defense had 31 as whole.

I've been following the Saints since a kid in the 70s watching the likes of Archie Manning and Tommy Myers. We may not have as grandiose a history as some NFL teams, but there are scores of memories the New Orleans Saints have given to their fans and I have done my best to record them here at New Orleans Saints History.
