Archie Manning and Kenny Stabler

A strange Scene in the Super Dome

A meeting before a 1983 preseason game, former Saint Quarterback Archie Manning shakes hands with the then present New Orleans Saints Quarterback Kenny Stabler.
Archie Manning, after 11 years in a Saint uniform, was traded to Houston for Offensive Tackle Leon Gray by head coach Bum Phillips. Bum’s reason’s were pretty simple. “I need an offensive tackle and Archie doesn’t tackle”. Leon Gray would last all of 1 year in New Orleans. Kenny Stabler stayed a little longer – 3 years.

I've been following the Saints since a kid in the 70s watching the likes of Archie Manning and Tommy Myers. We may not have as grandiose a history as some NFL teams, but there are scores of memories the New Orleans Saints have given to their fans and I have done my best to record them here at New Orleans Saints History.
