An All American at Virginia, Dombrowski was the first draft pick of new head coach Jim Mora when Mora took over after the 1985 Saints season. He would play his entire 11-year career in New Orleans starting in 137 games and playing in 151.
Jim Erkenberg had been an assistant coach in the CFL before joining Jim Mora in the USFL with the Philadelphia Stars. After the 1986 season he joined the Cowboys and would remain coaching in the NFL until 2001 for a few different teams.
