A second round draft from Notre Dame in 1980, Dave Waymer played 13 seasons in the NFL, 10 with the Saints. He finished in New Orleans as the Top All Time Saints Player for interceptions in a career with 37 picks. He scored a touchdown in 1988 when he blocked a field goal and returned it 58 yards against Seattle. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 1987 after having 5 interceptions that year. He started a total of 131 games with the Saints. He also recovered 15 fumbles.

In 1990 he joined the San Fransisco 49ers. In 1992 he left San Fransisco and played his final NFL season with the Oakland Raiders. He finished his NFL career with 48 interceptions.

Dave Waymer passed away in 1993 at the age of 34 from a heart attack that many believe was brought on by years of cocaine use.
