Sammy Knight earned a reputation in New Orleans as a hard-hitting ball hawk. Signed as a free agent from USC in 1997, Knight played 6 seasons for the Saints, leading the team in interceptions 5 of those seasons. A Pro-Bowler in 2001 he would end up his career with the Saints as the #3 All Time Saints Career Leader in interceptions with 28. He is also credited with 440 tackles during that time. In 1998 against the Minnesota Vikings he had a 91-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Sammy Knight would play another 6 seasons in the NFL after leaving the Saints in 2003 playing for the Dolphins, Chiefs and Jaguars before finally finishing his 12 year career in 2008 with the New York Giants.
