The 5-0 New Orleans Saints | HBO’s Inside the NFL, October 2, 1991

This HBO special aired in October of 1991 in New Orleans and emphasis centered around the New Orleans Saints and the Dome Patrol defense who were 5-0 at the time, on their way to an 11-5 season and their first ever Division Title as well as playoff game against Atlanta.

Hosted by Chris Collinsworth, Len Dawson and Nick Buoniconti in the French Quarter this episode includes interviews with Saint’s head coach Jim Mora, offensive lineman Stan Brock and All-Pro Linebackers Pat Swilling and Sam Mills as well as an exclusive segment on Saints running back Craig Heyward and former Oilers and Saints running back Hall of Famer Earl Campbell.

And while the spotlight of this episode is the New Orleans Saints there are highlights of week 5 of the 1991 season that cover all that week’s NFL action. Game highlights include Denver and John Elway, Buffalo and Thurman Thomas, Tom Tupa and the Phoenix Cardinals and Dallas’s victory over the Giants with rookie Troy Aikmen at quarterback.

And as always, a big Thank You to galaxies352 for letting us post these pieces of New Orleans Saints history.

I've been following the Saints since a kid in the 70s watching the likes of Archie Manning and Tommy Myers.
We may not have as grandiose a history as some NFL teams, but there are scores of memories the New Orleans Saints have given to their fans and I have done my best to record them here at New Orleans Saints History.
