The Saints are Winners!

1987 was a tremendous year for New Orleans Saints Fans. Head Coach Jim Mora was in his second season and it looked like things were finally were finally starting to come together for the Who Dat Nation.

The 1987 New Orleans Saints put together a 9-game winning streak and for the first time in franchise history, a Saints team would be going to the playoffs.

In 21 years, New Orleans had never had the pleasure of experiencing a winning NFL season. So when the Saints beat the Steelers 20-16 on November 29 it meant that in 1987, a Saints team would finish above .500 (the NFL played only 15 games in 1987 due to a 5-week player strike). Saints fans finally had something to be proud of.

I've been following the Saints since a kid in the 70s watching the likes of Archie Manning and Tommy Myers.
We may not have as grandiose a history as some NFL teams, but there are scores of memories the New Orleans Saints have given to their fans and I have done my best to record them here at New Orleans Saints History.
